The family’s work is led by Ibrahim Giacaman, a fourth-generation Christian woodcarver who works alongside his father, Salem, at the largest olive wood factory in Israel. Ibrahim learned the craft from his father and grandfather, Elias, and later studied art and sculpture in Bethlehem and at the Academy of Fine Art in Florence, Italy. Today, he continues the family tradition by designing and personally finishing each piece by hand.
Each ornament is carved from olive wood sourced from branches pruned from olive groves, never from cut-down trees. The wood is naturally dried for a year or more before carving begins, allowing its grain and character to fully develop. Every piece is carefully shaped to highlight the natural patterns of the wood, with small variations, knots, and imperfections all part of its authentic charm.
Because each ornament is handmade, no two are exactly alike, every piece has its own unique character and feel.
