WALL CROSS WITH KNOTS
This 5.5" wall cross with knots is hand-carved in Bethlehem by the Giacaman Family, master olive wood carvers whose work is rooted in generations of tradition. Each cross is shaped from natural olive wood, highlighting the knots, grain, and organic character that make every piece unique and full of life.
The family’s work is led by Ibrahim Giacaman, a fourth-generation Christian woodcarver who works alongside his father, Salem, at the largest olive wood factory in Israel. Ibrahim learned the craft from his father and grandfather, Elias, and later studied art and sculpture in Bethlehem and at the Academy of Fine Art in Florence, Italy. Today, he continues the family tradition by designing and personally finishing each piece by hand.
Each cross is carved from olive wood sourced from branches pruned from olive groves, never from cut-down trees. The wood is naturally dried for a year or more before carving begins, allowing its rich tone and distinctive grain to fully develop. Natural variations, knots, and small imperfections are embraced as part of its authentic beauty and character.
Because each piece is handmade, no two crosses are exactly alike, every one carries its own unique feel and story.
